Can parents leave the premises during practice?: Yes, we ask that if you choose to leave the premises that you return before the end of your child(s) scheduled practice. Parents who are late picking up participants will be subject to disciplinary actions.

1. Will mask be required in facilities during the season?: As guests in the Botetourt County Public School (BCPS) facilities, Parks and Recreation will adhere to all BCPS policies. Per Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and BCPS, masks will be required for all individuals ages 2 and older, regardless of vaccination status. Masks will be required to be worn by participants while not actively participating in physical activity (i.e. athletes sitting on the bench during the game.

3. How many practices are there per week?: There will be a maximum of 3 practices per week prior to the start of the season and a maximum of 2 practices per week when games begin. This is subject to change based on the number of teams and available gym space.

4. How will practices be facilitated this year?: There will be two teams practicing per court. Each team will have half a court for practice.

5. Where will practices be held?: Practice locations will depend on the number of teams in each area as well as the number of site supervisors on staff. Communication will be distributed as soon as possible regarding practice locations.

6. Will teams be allowed to scrimmage during practices since there are two teams per court?: The Parks and Recreation Department will work to schedule teams from the same age groups to share a court. If coaches agree to scrimmage, scrimmages will be allowed during practice.

7. Will parents be allowed in facilities during practice?: Parents of Instructional Coed (5 to 6 year-olds) participants will be allowed in facilities during practice. In an effort to limit staffing needs and minimize possible exposure occurrences, parents of participants Mini Coed to Seniors (7 to 18 year-olds) will not be allowed in facilities during practice.

9. Where will games be played?: Games will take place at Breckenridge Elementary, Central Academy Middle School, Colonial Elementary School, Greenfield Elementary School, and Read Mountain Middle School.

11. Will teams get to choose uniform colors this year?: Due to worldwide manufacturing delays, uniforms had to be purchased during the first week of registration to ensure they will arrive in time for games. Each player will receive a reversible jersey and solid color shorts. The uniforms this year will be the same in color and style for all Botetourt County teams. The home team on the schedule will wear the white side of the reversible jersey and the team indicated as away will wear red.

12. Will the jersey be gender specific or unisex?: Due to the need to place orders prior to registration closing, jerseys will be unisex. If the jersey is too long under the arm, we recommend participants wear a t-shirt or tank top underneath their jersey.

13. What days will games be played this year?: Games will be played on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays. These days are subject to change.

14. Will we be allowed to have food and/or drinks in facilities?: Food and/or drinks will not be allowed in facilities. Participants will be allowed to have a water bottle on the bench during games and at practices.

16. How do I sign up to coach?: You can volunteer to coach when you register your child or visit the reservation website.

17. How can I apply to be a Site Supervisor?: Site Supervisors are an integral part of providing recreation basketball. The season would simply not be possible without the support of our site supervisor staff members, apply to be a site supervisor.
