Genealogy Room at Fincastle Library
The Genealogy Room at Fincastle houses various collections, including family histories, Virginia County books, cemetery records, and books on Virginia history. A microfilm scanner is available to view old newspapers from the town of Buchanan, Virginia as well as other microfilms. A computer is available in the room for research. Classes about genealogical research are periodically offered at the libraries.
Local History Room at Eagle Rock Library
A special room at the Eagle Rock Library is dedicated to local history, where you can find pamphlets, yearbooks, genealogical resources, and more. Two computers are available in the room for research.

Local Resources
Botetourt County Circuit Court Clerk's Office
Contains collections of primary source materials related to county history including marriage records from 1770 to the present, deeds and other land transactions, probate records, and many other resources. Staff are on hand to assist. For information, call: 540-473-8274.
Roanoke Public Libraries Virginia Room
Located at the Main Library in Downtown Roanoke, the Virginia Room holds the Libraries’ non-circulating historical and genealogical research resources. We are committed to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and making available materials of the Roanoke Valley and the Commonwealth of Virginia and some material from states closely tied to Virginia through births, immigration, migration, or boundary.
US GenWeb Project: Botetourt County
This is a part of the USGenWeb project, which is an effort to organize genealogical materials on the Internet. The goal is to provide a web site specializing in the genealogy in Virginia with an emphasis on genealogy at the county level.

Library of Virginia Genealogical Research
The Library of Virginia (LVA) is the official library for the state and is a major repository of historical records for all of Virginia. If you hit a roadblock in your genealogical research locally, there is a chance that the LVA has records that can help you! Luckily, many of their historical records have been digitized and are available via their website, and many of their books are also available via your local library's Interlibrary Loan Service.
