VOTER NOTICES WILL BE MAILED TO ALL BOTETOURT COUNTY REGISTERED VOTERS BEFORE THE END OF SEPTEMBER. These notices will come from the Virginia Department of Elections and will contain all changes as a result of redistricting at both the state and local levels. Voters are encouraged to be on the lookout for these and to review their information when received. Many voters will have new polling locations due to the precinct boundary changes based on the census data. (see info on boundary changes below)
The mailer will have the official USPS election banner on the front as well as our office name and address as the return address. THIS IS A LEGITIMATE ELECTION MAILING!!
On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors approved the proposed amendments to Chapter 9 -- Elections of the Botetourt County Code. These changes will take effect on July 1, 2022 and will result in some voters having a new polling location.
It is the mission of the Department of Elections & Voter Registration to conduct voter registration and election administration in a transparent, non-partisan, secure manner in order to provide all eligible citizens of Botetourt County the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in an efficient, equitable and accessible manner in accordance with the Constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the Code of Virginia.
Our duty is to encourage maximum participation by all eligible voters, promote public confidence in the election process through voter education, conducting accurate and fair elections, and maintaining transparency to the process.
