Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Department of Elections & Voter Registration to conduct voter registration and election administration in a transparent, non-partisan, secure manner in order to provide all eligible citizens of Botetourt County the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in an efficient, equitable and accessible manner in accordance with the Constitutions of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the Code of Virginia.
Our duty is to encourage maximum participation by all eligible voters, promote public confidence in the election process through voter education, conducting accurate and fair elections, and maintaining transparency to the process.
NOTICE OF VOTER REGISTRATION RECORD CANCELATIONS
As required by § 24.2-428.2 of the Code of Virginia and in compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), 52 USC § 20501 et seq, Virginia Department of Elections removed from the active voter rolls, any person who did not take action in response to an official request for confirmation of their address within the time allowed by law. Voters contained on this cancellation list were placed into an “inactive” status on or before August 8, 2020, did not respond to multiple notices for confirmation of their address, and have not voted in any election or updated their voter registration record between August 8, 2020 and January 24, 2023.

Any voter who believes their voter registration record was canceled in error should contact the Botetourt County Department of Elections & Voter Registration, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm at (540) 928-2120 to discuss their registration. Voters who are qualified to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia may complete a new voter registration application at the above-listed office, at any DMV office or online at elections.virginia.gov to have their record reinstated.
