Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors is the chief policy-making body for Botetourt County. The five board members are elected by the citizens of Botetourt in their respective magisterial districts to serve staggered four-year terms. The board members elect a chairman and vice-chairman from amongst themselves.

Board of Zoning Appeals
This Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for all short and long-range planning functions affecting the growth and development of Botetourt County. It provides citizens with information related to land use issues, zoning, FEMA floodplain determinations, Home Occupation Permits, Manufactured Home (HUD) Permits, plat approvals, rezoning, site plan review, subdivision approvals, sign permits and variances, and performs review, inspection and enforcement duties.

Botetourt County Citizen Commission for Preservation of Historical Properties
The Botetourt County Citizen Commission for Preservation of Historical Properties shall advise the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors on how best to identify, prioritize, and facilitate the preservation of historically important properties and sites throughout Botetourt County, Virginia.

Broadband Commission
The Botetourt County Broadband Commission was formed to advocate for broadband expansion throughout the County to better serve homes and businesses.

Historic Greenfield Preservation Advisory Council
The purpose of the Historic Greenfield Preservation Advisory Council shall be to provide the county’s government with an officially chartered and appointed citizen’s body of qualified volunteers to support and advise the county about the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of the buildings and grounds of the Greenfield historical preservation area.

Library Board of Trustees
The Library Board of Trustees serves in advisory capacity. The five-member board is elected for four-year terms. Board members represent the five Botetourt County districts, and each member is appointed by their district’s Supervisor. A member of the County Board of Supervisors serves as an ex-officio member on the Library Board.

Planning Commission
The Botetourt County Planning Commission is composed of five members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to represent their respective magisterial districts. The Commission makes recommendations on rezoning, text amendments, and special exception permit applications. The Board of Supervisors then makes the final decision regarding the Commission’s recommendations. The Commission normally holds its regular meetings at 6:00 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at the Botetourt County Administration Center, 57 S. Center Drive, Daleville, VA 24083.

Electoral Board
The Board is responsible for the appointment and supervision of the Director of Elections and General Registrar, oversight of the election process and ascertainment of election results. As provided for in section 24.2-106 of the Code of Virginia, Botetourt County's Electoral Board is comprised of three members, qualified voters of the County, serving staggered three-year terms. Members are nominated by the respective party and appointed by the chief judge of the judicial circuit for the County. Two members represent the party occupying the Governor's office and the third member represents the party with the next highest number of votes for Governor at the last preceding gubernatorial election.
