Communications
The Botetourt County Office of Communications was established in 2021. This office keeps the public and County employees advised of county-related news and information. This office is the communications resource to for departments and manages the use of the county's brand image. Our mission is to tell the story of Botetourt County. This will be done by educating, engaging, empowering, and collaborating with our community and partners. By following our process, county staff and leadership can quickly tailor communications tactics and messaging to specific situations while maintaining consistency across the organization.

Community Development
The Community Development Department provides a broad range of development services including building permitting and inspections, development review, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control, zoning compliance, floodplain management, code enforcement, comprehensive and other long-range planning functions within the county.

Economic Development
The Economic Development Department works with local and national businesses in the county as well as partners and stakeholders to be a resource for the business community. The department also works to attract and retain business opportunities.

Financial Services & Budget
The Financial Services and Budget Division ensures the financial well being of the County through the promotion and practice of sound fiscal policy to optimize the County’s use of limited financial resources.

Fire & EMS
Botetourt Fire & EMS is a combination department serving the residents, businesses and visitors of Botetourt County.

Human Resources
The Office of Human Resources serves as the first point of contact for prospective Botetourt County employees. We are responsible for coordinating the hiring process for all departments and offices that fall under the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors.

Libraries
Botetourt Public Libraries serve as a resource for our community offering traditional services as well as ebooks and audiobooks, online resources, activities, events and meeting space.

Parks & Recreation
Botetourt County Parks and Recreation helps oversee youth sports programs as well as other recreational events for the county. The department also works closely with partners and stakeholders to support events such as Iron Man! We also have facility rentals available for the public and maintain several parks in our community as well as help oversee the Botetourt Sports Complex.

Purchasing
The Purchasing Office is responsible for the procurement of goods, services, insurance, and construction in accordance with the intent of the Botetourt County Purchasing Policy and Procedures Manual and the Code of Virginia. Our primary goal is to obtain the highest quality goods and services, in a timely manner, at the least expense to the County. We are constantly seeking new sources of supply and welcome your participation.

Social Services
The Social Services Office is open to the public on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM. Services provided to our community include: Adoption, Adult and Child Protective Services, Childcare, Emergency Assistance, Energy Assistance, Foster Care, Medical Assistance (Medicaid), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.

Solid Waste
Botetourt County contracts with private companies for the disposal of residential and certain commercial trash. Contact the company for account and billing information. Company pick-up areas can be viewed on the Botetourt County GIS map or refer to the links on our webpage.

Transportation
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) maintains the roadways for Botetourt County, working in partnership with Botetourt County Administration and our facilities teams.
